Padi Divemaster Course

The PADI Divemaster course is the first professional level PADI qualification. Take you passion and turn it into a career:

PADI Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver or equivalent.

PADI EFR Primary and Secondary Care or equivalent, completed within the last

24 months.

Medically cleared for diving by a physician within the last 12 months.

Logged a minimum of 40 dives to start the course and 60 to complete.

Personal Diving Insurance.

1660 euro including e learning. PADI annual fees are borne by the candidate.

Minimum 4 weeks

As a well established school with many years experience the Waterhoppers Diving School is in an ideal position to host training courses for PADI Professionals. We have extended the Divemaster course to include training in sales, operations management, equipment maintenance, tank filling and, perhaps most importantly, hands on experience with real diving clients.

How to become a PADI Divemaster?

The 4 steps to certification are …

  1. Theory

The theory is completed online via e learning with knowledge reviews and a final exam to complete. The theory section is self-study with Instructor assistance if necessary.

  1. General Diving Skills

  • Skills circuit. Underwater skills must be to demonstration standard. Time is given to practice skills.

  • Mapping. You will create a map of a designated dive site.

  • Rescue Assessment.

  • Emergency Assistance Plan for a designated dive site.

  • Equipment exchange

  1. Stamina Exercises

  • 400 m swim

  • 15 minute tread

  • 100 m tired diver tow

  • 100 m diver tow

  1. Dive Leader & Professional Assistant

Divemaster Duties – What can you do as a Divemaster:

 

  • Supervise both training and non training-related activities by planning, organizing and directing dives.

  • Assist an instructor during confined and open water training.

  • Accompany student divers during Adventure Dives or specialty course dives under the instructor’s indirect supervision.

  • Teach and certify PADI Skin Divers independently. This also includes conducting the PADI Seal Team Aqua Mission: Skin Diver Specialist.

  • Conduct the Discover Snorkeling program.

  • Conduct the Discover Local Diving experience.

  • Conduct the Reactivate program for certified divers, or for PADI Scuba Divers who are refreshing their skills.

  • Conduct the skin diving skills segment of the Open Water Diver course during any confined water dive.

  • Accompany certified PADI Scuba Divers on subsequent dives.

Medical

Diving requires a minimum level of health and fitness. Divemaster candidates must have had a medical assessment within the previous 12 months. Chronic health conditions, certain medications and/or recent surgery may require you to obtain written approval from a physician prior to diving. We have a doctor on call to answer any questions and who makes the final decision as to who can dive. Any queries please let us know.

When can I start a PADI Divemaster course?

We do not schedule set dates for completing a course. We can complete the course from April through to end October.

How do I book?

Easy! Simply press the book now button. An inquiry form will come to us and we will organise dates, transfers and answer any questions.

Where will we dive?

You can complete the PADI Divemaster course through our dive bases of Rhodes Town, Pefkos.  

Can I fly after diving?

You must leave a minimum of 18 hours after diving before flying.

Is accommodation included?

We can offer (shared) accommodation for the duration of the course.
