As a Divemaster you are on the first rung on the PADI Professional ladder.
As a PADI professional a Divemaster typically assist instructors with classes and lead certified divers on underwater adventures and help divers reactivate their skill if they have not dived in a while. In the dive center / shop, Divemasters often fill tanks, organise equipment, check-in divers and make every activity for every guest special.
Did you know that PADI Divemasters with DSD leader can conduct Discover Scuba Diving Experiences in a pool or confined water? They may also lead divers who have successfully completed a DSD experience on guided dives once the participants have made their first dive with an instructor. So as a Divemaster you have the amazing opportunity to introduce non-divers to the underwater world, how special is that!
After completing the PADI Divemaster course, a PADI Divemaster can teach Discover Snorkeling, The PADI Advanced Snorkeling program (including the PADI Seal Team Skin Diver Specialist AquaMission) and PADI ReActivate.
With additional training, Divemasters can become qualified to teach PADI Mermaid™ courses, PADI Freediver™ courses and Emergency First Response® first aid and CPR courses.
As Divemaster you can also teach Equipment Specialist, Coral Reef Conservation, AWARE Specialist, Emergency Oxygen Provider, Digital Underwater Photography, PADI Distinctive Specialty courses without dives once certified by a PADI Course Director.
As a Divemaster, your words carry extra weight. Both divers and non-divers will look up to you as an ambassador for the underwater world.
Whether you choose to organize a beach clean-up, teach local school kids about coral reefs or share your underwater photos and videos with a local photography club. The PADI Torchbearer™ resource guide is packed with activity ideas. Draw further inspiration from Aussie Brinkley Davies, a PADI Divemaster, underwater photographer and founder of The Balu Blue Foundation.
So, if you want to travel the world and work in some of the most amazing places, you can!
The dream is real! So, what’s stopping you?
Your PADI Divemaster course is your first step to a successful career in the dive industry, and you will join the global PADI family of 128,000 dive professionals who will support you every step of the way.
